Love - What does it mean to me?
There are 3 kinds of love:
Eros - Erotic love that comes from rousing one's passion and can often be more lust than love.
Phileo - Brotherly love or sisterly love which most humans are capable of.
Agape - It is the kind of love for the utterly unworthy, a love which proceeds from a God who is loving. It is love lavished on others without a thought if whether they are worthy to receive it or not. It proceeds from the nature of the giver rather than from any merit of the receiver. Oni God can enable us to love each other unconditionally.
The Command to Love (Matthew 22:37-39)
'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind... you shall love your neighbour as yourself.'
Love
God set it as a command and wants us to practise it.
Agape love.
It is the strongest of love.
It is also a Godly love, a love that more than people could bear.
It never rejoice at wrong but rejoice at right.
Godly love, a love that never ends. It is for eternity.
This is also the kind of love that God wants us to have.
To love everybody
unconditionally,
Love someone whom you
don't even know,
whether that person is evil or kind.
They are all
creations of God, we should love
them if we love our God too.
No matter how wicked we are or how rebellious we are to God,
God will still forgive us and free us from our sins,
because he is loving enough to love and forgive us.
Agape love is important enough for God to actually command us to love Him and each other in this way. He commands us because such love doesn't come naturally. We find it hard to love others who are different from us in their views, opinions, backgrounds and in many other ways. The Absence of Love (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)
Without love I
offend others.you ma have many talents and gifts but without love you will only end up offending people.
Without love I am
nothing. You may be very wise and powerful but without love you are
nothing before God! What you do is no value either. You may be successful and get results, you may be admired, appreciated and applauded but as far as eternity is concerned, you are nothing!
Without love i
gain nothing. Even acts of great sacrifice amount to nothing before God if the motivation was self-interest and not agape love for others.. so nothing is gained and the sacrifice is wasted. In God's eyes, the ones with greatest love is the first.Only agape love can fill the emptiness in your heart, and can hold you strong. The Endlessness of Love (1 Corinthians 13:8-13):This love never folds under pressure of the most intense and sustained kind. It continues through death into eternity. This is the love of God. Everything else will become irrelevant or else be swallowed up in the perfection of etenity. For when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. The qualities of faith, hope and love are the ones that will abide.1 Corinthians 13:4-7Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous or boastful, it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way, it is not irritable or resentful, it does not rejoice at wrong but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never ends. As for prophecies they will pass away, as for tongues they will cease, as for knowledge it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. When i was a child, i spoke as a child, i thought lik a child, i reasonedlike a child. When i became a man, i gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimply but then face to face. Now i know in partthen i shall understand fully even as i have been fully understood. So faith, hope and love abide, these three but the greatest of these is love.
